Elisha Cuthbert on the 24 Movie

June 30, 2007

Ryan Stewart over at Cinematical recently caught up with Elisha Cuthbert to grill her about her upcoming controversial film Captivity. While he had her, he brought up the idea of a 24 movie to which she said:

Your guess is as good as mine. My whole theory is that I’ve got the phone waiting by the bed, and I’m just sort of waiting for it to ring and them to tell me ‘hey, we’re gonna go do the movie.’ You know, that would be the ideal situation, but I think Kiefer is so busy getting these seasons done that it’s almost impossible to get anything going. But we’ve been talking about it since the first season. I think it’s on everyone’s mind, but it’s got to be good. Their standards are so high over there that if it happens it’s gonna happen at the right time and have the right script and all the elements have to be in the right place, obviously.

So as usual, she doesn’t really seem to know anything.

First Indy & Shia Pic

June 30, 2007

The fourth Indiana Jones movie is currently filming, and we know at this point that it will be taking place later on in time (70sish) to reflect Harrison Ford’s aging.  This will mean that Shia LaBeouf will be playing Indy’s son in the movie, though exactly in what context, we don’t know yet.

Anyway, the first shot of them together filming has popped up online:

I don’t know what you all think, but that doesn’t look like Indy. It looks like Harrison Ford is old.

It’s Always Sunny… on DVD

June 29, 2007

Another bit of old news here, but it’s definitely one worth reporting.

While the third season is expected to start next month, the first two seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia will be available on DVD on September 4th. This is easily one of the funniest shows on TV right now; start watching it so it doesn’t go the way of Arrested Development.

TVShowsonDVD has the full press release, and here’s the cover:

Zeitgeist Pre-Order

June 29, 2007

I’m not partial to downloading entire albums on iTunes. Not only do I like to own a physical copy of the album, but I always wind up getting screwed somehow when I do it. The only reason I get interested in buying them through iTunes is for the exclusives. In this case, they’re pretty hefty.

The new Smashing Pumpkins album, Zeitgeist, will be released on July 10th. That’s not news. However, if you pre-order it on iTunes, you receive the song “Doomsday Clock” off the album immediately. You’ll also receive the following Smashing Pumpkins covers:

  • “Rocket” by The Bravery
  • “Tonight Tonight” by Panic! at the Disco
  • “I am One” by +44
  • “Mayonaise” by The Academy Is…
  • “Ava Adore” by Test Your Reflex
  • As if all of this weren’t enough, pre-ordering will also give you a Ticketmaster password to get in on the Smashing Pumpkins ticket pre-sale for their upcoming tour.

Simply for the fact that I want to see them in Chicago, that last bit makes any online troubles through iTunes worth it.

    Mr. Magorium Trailer

    June 29, 2007

Following up on yesterday’s post, we now have the first trailer for Zach Helm’s directorial debut, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. I’m sure by now everyone’s caught the Willy Wonka vibe from this movie, but if anything confirms it, it’s the trailer.

Also, how cute is Natalie Portman?

    See for yourself.

First Order of the Phoenix Review

    June 29, 2007

The Times Online, a British site, has the first review of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

While it is a fairly mixed review, the film is getting a lot of praise from other people who have caught early screenings, notably Garth over at Dark Horizons.

I don’t think any of this is going to stop people from seeing it.

    Here’s the review.

    Studio 60 on DVD

    June 28, 2007

A real shame that this one got cancelled. Granted I still haven’t finished the episodes that aired before its hiatus, but I do enjoy it when I actually sit myself down to watch.

Regardless, the series finale of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip airs tonight, and now we have the news of the DVD release. The Complete Series DVD will drop on October 16th.

TVShowsonDVD has all the extra features listed, but here’s the art:

    Tarsem Singh is Back

    June 28, 2007

When The Cell came out way back in 2000 (I can’t believe it’s been that long), I absolutely adored it, despite the presence of Jennifer Lopez. This was mostly due to the outstanding direction by first-timer Tarsem Singh. It was incredibly artful and visionary.

But then he just kinda dropped off the map.

    Until now.

The poster for his latest film, Unthinkable, was revealed at Cannes. It’s still in early development, but here’s the poster:

As I was looking things up about this story, I happened to discover that Tarsem did complete one other film in between The Cell and his work on Unthinkable. It’s called The Fall. Very little is known about it right now other than a small plot summary and the fact that it screened at the Toronto Film Festival.

I definitely want to see both of these.

    Synecdoche Poster

    June 28, 2007

Charlie Kaufman, screenwriter extraordinaire, has got another one coming, and this one will also be his directorial debut.

Synecdoche, New York will star Philip Seymour Hoffman as a playwright who works up to Broadway and begins building a massive stage set of New York for his new play. It will tackle his difficulties with the women in his life as well as blurring the line between reality and fiction, a Kaufman standard.

It sounds pretty vague, but as far as I’m concerned, the man can do no wrong.

    30 Days of Night Trailer

    June 28, 2007

Another bit of old news, but definitely noteworthy.

30 Days of Night, based on the graphic novel of the same name, is the new film from director David Slade. You might remember him from his great work on the film Hard Candy, one of my favorites from 2006. It will star Josh Hartnett and Melissa George and it opens in October.

    The trailer is pretty freaky.
