24 Season 6 DVD

September 7, 2007

Just when I thought the sixth season of 24 couldn’t get any worse, today comes the DVD announcement. It hits streets the first week of December (on the 4th) as usual for the series, to hype the new season which begins in January. Here’s the absolutely horrible cover art:

Transformers DVD

September 7, 2007

A lot of people bashed it, but I didn’t think Michael Bay’s Transformers was all that bad. Granted, they should have stuck to robots beating the hell out of each other rather than trying to tack on some story about a space cube…

Anyway, the DVD is set for release October 16th in single and two-disc formats.

Head to DVDActive for all the details.

Eyes Wide Shut: Special Edition

September 6, 2007

Some more info has popped up on the upcoming Special Edition DVD of Stanley Kubrick’s last film Eyes Wide Shut, which will be included with the Director’s Series Box Set.

It will make available, for the first time, the Unrated version of the film as well as the R rated one. According to The Digital Bits, here’s the rest of the info:

“You’ll also get the 3-part Channel Four documentary The Last Movie: Stanley Kubrick and Eyes Wide Shut, the Lost Kubrick: The Unfinished Films of Stanley Kubrick featurette, an interview gallery featuring Steven Spielberg, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, theatrical trailers and TV spots, and Kubrick’s 1998 D.G.A. D.W. Griffith Award acceptance speech.”

Bender’s Big Score

August 31, 2007

I remember when Futurama first came on the air. Being a huge Simpsons fan (still am), I was extremely excited for the show. It was really funny even. I was a fan.

For one reason or another, I stopped watching. Then before I knew it, it was off the air.

There’s been talk of a direct to DVD movie release since the show has found a following on Cartoon Network. That info became a sure thing quite a ways back, but today I have the cover art to present to you for the first Futurama DVD movie, Bender’s Big Score:

Simpsons Movie DVD

August 27, 2007

UPDATE: If you actually read the whole thing (I’ll admit, I skipped around), it becomes quite obvious that this is a joke. Seven discs? I think not.

A shame too, because this would have been hilarious.

Here’s where it originated.

Wow, this looks to be one for the books.

The DVD for The Simpsons Movie, which will be released on November 26th, is set to have more special features than you can shake a stick at. Moreover, a lot of these are pretty original sounding. Some of the more interesting ones are:

  • Widescreen, Fullscreen, Halfscreen (formatted to fit…you guessed it, half your screen) and Ullman View (whole film in the old animation style)
  • English, Spanish, French, and Pig Latin language tracks
  • English, Spanish, French, and Futurama alien language subtitle tracks
  • Loads of audio commentaries: One by internet nerds, one by CEO Rupert Murdoch, and visual commentaries where they draw directly over the film.
  • Deleted scenes (a ton!)
  • Featurettes including one that covers the series entire 24 year run (up to it’s eventual cancellation in 2011)
  • Seriously, there’s so many more, but I can’t even begin to list everything here. Just check out the full list.

    Seinfeld Complete Series DVD

    August 25, 2007

Yet another complete series DVD is set to hit stores this fall!

This time it’s none other than Seinfeld. It will hit the streets the same day as the ninth season, November 6th.

It will include all of the previous discs released individually along with the following:

The highlight: a 226-page coffee-table book filled with photos, quotes, trivia and personal reflections from star Jerry Seinfeld.

“When the show wrapepd, the book, which had taken years to assemble, was privately shared with only the cast and crew,” said Marc Rashba, VP Marketing at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. “When we were launching the TV-DVD series sets five years ago, we loved it so much, but we took a look, and it was ridiculously expensive to put it out. Now, we reshaped and redesigned it, and we were able to make it happen. It’s the first time the public will get to see it.”

The book comes with a bonus DVD featuring a first-ever cast reunion round-table discussion with Seinfeld, creator Larry David and co-stars Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards. The hourlong discussion finds the cast and David together again on the ninth anniversary of the series finale.

    SRP is $283.95.

Check out the box art below.

Boy would I like to trade up for this.
