HUGE 24 Casting News!

September 21, 2007

I’ve got a major scoop on the upcoming season of 24. Usually over the summer/fall, we’ll learn some stuff about the new season before it begins, and up until now, there hasn’t been much. We know that the production of the seventh season got delayed earlier this summer. Plot wise, however, there hasn’t been much to tell.

Fox announced the date of the premiere, which will be Sunday, January 13th. It will be followed by a new episode at its regular time on Monday, January 14th. They followed this announcement with the big news.

If you want to go in fresh, don’t read on…but trust me, if you’re a fan, and particularly if you didn’t like last season, you’re going to want to read this.

Heroes and Southland Tales Comics

September 20, 2007

With many films finding source material in graphic novels, many are finding that comics are a great medium to expand the universe of an existing story. Bearing that in mind, there are a couple of cool graphic novels coming out this fall.

First up is Southland Tales: The Prequel Saga, a collection of all three of the prequel comics originally released earlier this year. The combined version will be available in late October.

Also hitting shelves is a hardcover of the collected Heroes comics that previously were only available online. Over the course of the first season, the comics were released online where they helped bridge the gaps between episodes. This collected edition will hit shelves November 7th, with two different covers, one by Alex Ross and one by Jim Lee:

No Heroes for Tarantino

September 20, 2007

By now, most people know that Kevin Smith is writing and directing an upcoming episode of the spin-off Heroes: Origins slated for next summer. But what other kinds of talent will they be bringing in?

Well, Quentin Tarantino’s out. In an interview with The Sun, he said:

“They were trying to get me to do one. I haven’t even seen the f***ing show. What the f*** is Heroes?”

Ouch. The man has dabbled in TV before including a great run on Alias as a recurring character. But it would seem Heroes is not in the cards for him.

September 12, 2007

Jon Stewart hosted the Oscars to mixed reviews two years ago, but the powers that be are giving him another shot! Hopefully he’ll be a little edgier this time, but they could certainly do a lot worse.

The Academy Awards will air Sunday, February 24, 2008 on ABC.

Want to know what the folks over at The Office did on their summer vacation before the season premiere on September 27th? Check it out!

Additionally, does anyone remember the blog Creed started? “www.creedthoughts.gov.www\creedthoughts”? Well, that’s not the real address, as anyone that watches the show knows (Ryan simply opened a Word file for the crazy old man to type into). But he must have found a way to post them anyway! Check out the real Creed Thoughts over at NBC.com!

Star Wars TV Update

September 6, 2007

A CG-animated Clone Wars television show has been in the works since the prequel trilogy wrapped up, and now it appears it may have a home.

Walt Disney Studios is expressing huge interest in the series, and they’re really pushing their weight around to get it. With Fox and HBO also in the running, they’re going to have to.

Episodes will run 22 minutes each and “will follow the general tone of the original 1977 Star Wars with an action focus and lighter tone.”

The show is slated to air in Fall 2008. The live action series won’t be ready until at least Fall 2009.

Bender’s Big Score

August 31, 2007

I remember when Futurama first came on the air. Being a huge Simpsons fan (still am), I was extremely excited for the show. It was really funny even. I was a fan.

For one reason or another, I stopped watching. Then before I knew it, it was off the air.

There’s been talk of a direct to DVD movie release since the show has found a following on Cartoon Network. That info became a sure thing quite a ways back, but today I have the cover art to present to you for the first Futurama DVD movie, Bender’s Big Score:

It’s scheduled for release November 27th.
